TVS has launched the updated Apache RTR 160 and RTR 180 which come with new cosmetic and mechanical changes. The range starts with the RTR 160 which has been priced at ₹1.17 lakh for the rear drum brake variant, ₹1.12 lakh for the rear disc brake variant, and ₹1.24 lakh for the top-end variant with rear disc brake and Bluetooth. The Apache RTR 180 is available in a single variant and is priced at ₹1.30 lakh.
In terms of cosmetic changes, both the bikes get new graphics and new LED headlights and taillights. The 2022 TVS Apache RTR 180 series is available in colors – Gloss Black and Pearl White; while the 2022 TVS Apache RTR 160 series is available in 5 colors namely Gloss Black, Pearl White, Racing Red, Matte Blue, and T-Grey. In terms of features, both bikes now come with a Bluetooth-enabled digital instrument cluster. While this feature is available only in the top-end Apache RTR 160, the RTR 180 comes with it as standard. Another addition is the inclusion of three ride modes Sport, Urban, and Rain, which alter power delivery and ABS settings.
The bikes also see an improvement in their power-to-weight ratios. The RTR 160 now produces 16.04hp at 8,750rpm and a peak torque of 13.85Nm at 7,000rpm as opposed to the 15.53hp at 8,400rpm and 13.9Nm of torque at 7,000rpm of the previous model. The weight stands at 137 kg for the drum brake variant and 138 kg for the disc brake variant which is 2 kgs lesser than before. The RTR 180 on the other hand produces 17.02hp at 8,500rpm as opposed to the 16.79 hp at 8,5000 rpm of the previous model. Torque remains the same at 15.50 Nm at ₹7000 rpm. The RTR 180 has lost 1 kg resulting in a kerb weight of 140 kgs.
